KISS bassist, vocalist and mouthpiece Gene Simmons , spoke with Goldmine magazine and listed the ten albums that changed his life. In the explanations of his list, Gene was keen to emphasize that the musical genre does not matter, but the level of greatness of the work and the ability of the artists/bands to create good songs that will last forever, therefore, his musical taste goes from ABBA to death metal.
Simmons said: “Yeah, I like death metal, The Killers and Tame Impala; I like all kinds of things. It doesn’t matter the musical genre, but the ability to create songs that will last forever. Bee Gees is a good example of this, as is ABBA. If I’m riding in my car and ABBA music starts, I turn up the volume and that’s a sign of greatness, and that’s undeniable. The Four Seasons and The Beach Boys also have that richness in their work.”
Recently, Gene Simmons stated that the official KISS bootleg series, entitled Off The Soundboard, started in June 2021, will still offer “a lot of material”.
In conversation with Vintage Guitar, Simmons revealed that KISS has “a big temperature-controlled vault that’s filled with concert recordings” and that it’s only a matter of time to “see what comes out”.
